Kindness, Friendship and Good Deeds

I hadn't planned on posting today, but this story deserves to be relayed.

I've mentioned the Compuserve Forum before; it's an incredible place where I have learned heaps of writing lessons, and skill. Not all that long ago a long-time and vauable member informed us that her [once in remission] cancer had returned. She was moving with her beloved cats back in with family. Her biggest worry was over her cats: how they would adjust; what would happen if she didn't make it this time...

Unfortunately a few weeks ago, she passed away. Through her close friend, word got to the forum that one of her cats hadn't found a home. Likely, it would be sent to a shelter and, being quite old, would probably meet an untimely death.

This is where the title of my post comes in.

A forum member who lives in FL (the cat is in CA) offered to take in the cat if the friend could find a way to get it to her. Another forum member from CA offered to fly cross-country with the kitty! Through an unbelievable series of events (and a 300+post thread) enough money/air miles were donated to fly the member and cat first class to deliver it to its new home.

Now, I know there are people out there who will be thinking: It's just a cat. And an old one at that. But, it's not about the cat. It's about Lauri, the woman who passed away, and her character. A character so beautiful that people are willing to go above and beyond to help her even after her death. I am truly overwhelmed by the love and generosity displayed in this situation.
