Critique Contest
The day has arrived. I know you were all waiting with bated breath. For all of, yanno, 4 days.
It's easy. The first of my followers to guess the band or song I recently set as my ringtone will win a 5 page critique from moi. The first person after that to guess the unguessed part can send me their first 250 words for a crit. If someone guesses both in one shot first, well, I'll do a whole chapter.
There's no time limit on sending the work. If you have nothing ready for critiquing at this time and you still want to jump in, feel free. If you win you can send me something whenever you have it ready.

Not Incubus (tho Are You In and Pardon Me are on there), but you did manage 4 of my top 10 fave Incubus songs with your guesses.
I figured you would get it. And you did. It's NIN, wrong song, however. You managed my fave NIN song with the guess. You're good - even if it is my blog title ;-)
If anyone else wants to go for the song (or Roh, if you want to try again), go ahead and you can still win 250 words (or a whole Ch., Roh).

ok - it's NIN ... havent' got a clue who or what they are so looking at this website and not listening to any song .... at a good guess ... "something i can never have" .... because it's so appropriate ... I never win ... but it's always fun taking part LOL ...

Since Pretty Hate Machine was just re-mastered and re-released, I'm going to say it's either "Sanctified" or possibly the bonus track, "Get Down, Make Love"
You guys have the correct album. It's probably the only song that [slightly] sounds upbeat (well, imo), but the lyrics aren't.
If anyone else wants to keep guessing, have at it. I'll post on Monday with the winner, and the song if it hasn't been guessed. Now, I'm off to snuggle and watch xmas movies with the kids, then we have a long, busy day tomorrow.

So now that I'm begging, now that I'm down in it, I'll feel somewhat sanctified by a partial crit.
And as for the actual ringfinger, I mean ringtone, I have no idea what it might be.

I had too much fun with this! It was a challenge trying to figure out the ringtone for someone I don't know - especially since NIN is MY favorite band and I have my own list of fav songs.
It was even more fun trying to create my last comment using the titles of every song from PHM (an idea I borrowed from your post in May listing your fav albums).
On PHM, my favs are Something I Can Never Have and...The Only Time.
As for seeing them live, Head Like a Hole, Terrible Lie, and Sin are some of the top crowd pleasers (hearing 'terrible lie' sung by thousands is an amazing experience.

Roh - The Only Time (obviously) is my fave on that album. Something I Can Never Have is probably my second. We really do channel each other in the music department!
Down In It makes a really great ringtone, though! I mean, if it beat out Incubus (especially Are You In) for the top spot (for now), it's gotta sound good ;) I'll email you...
