Self Lovin' Bloghop

The day is here, and while my linky list disappeared last week I'm so happy to see that many re-signed on the new one. Thanks guys.

For those who don't know what this hop is about, well it's simple, really. I wanted to know what you're good at. I started it from a writing standpoint, but it doesn't have to be inclusive to only writers. I have some (amazingly talented) photographers who follow, some (fabulous) artists, assorted various others, and some great friends.

It's too easy to be hard on yourself, and sadly difficult to pat your own back. That's what today is about. Or the whole week. I wanted to give those short on time due to the upcoming A-Z challenge or any reason in general plenty of time to post. It can be as long or short as you like. And if you haven't signed up but are interested, please do. I'd love to come to your place and read about your greatest talent. :)

For me, in regards to writing, it was a toss up but I'm going with dialogue. Funny since I'm not a chatty sort of person. But my dialogue is clean and concise. I was always decent at it, but it definitely had to be honed into what m betas/CP's call sparkly. And I don't write about vampires in any way... who knew. ;)

Sometime soon I will be blogging about dialogue and offering some tips. I also have a characterization and voice post planned for the near future.

So if you're not signing up to do a post, maybe let me know in comments ... what is it you do oh so well?

Tara, I was sure I'd signed up, but don't see myself on the list now, which is good, as I completely forgot. I'm sorry!
And dialogue can be tough to nail. That's a good strength.
Dialogue can be so hard! It's definitely a strength to be good at it :)

Hi, Tara. This is a cool idea for a bloghop! It's so easy to find our flaws and talk about our weaknesses. But we need to acknowledge our strengths, too!

Happy reading and writing! from Laura Marcella @ Wavy Lines

I'd agree with the dialogue - and characterization! Even if I read a very short snip, I can immediately sense a whole story behind each of your characters. They feel so real!

Funny. I kind of did and didn't write a self lovin' post, even though I didn't sign up. (Because that would mean I had been on the internet rather than editing like mad to meet my deadlines. *shifty eyes* Yeah...) I love this hop. Way to put something super positive out there!

I really love hearing what everyone thinks are their strengths. This was such a great idea, Tara - thank you!
I love dialogue. I will skip whole chunks of exposition to get to the dialogue!

That's a great thing to be good at! And posting some craft topics sounds fantastic. :)

For me in writing, I've been told I'm very good at writing emotion and visceral reactions. Whew. It was hard to say what I'm good at. I'm so much better at finding and magnifying my flaws. lol!

Great blog hop idea!

I do the same thing Elizabeth!

I'm so glad you're enjoying this, Liz. We seem to be following one another around the blogs today, lol.

Headed to check your post out soon Crystal.

Deniz, thanks girlie. I appreciate that. :)

Laura, thanks for stopping by!

Meredith, glad you signed back up, thanks!

No worries, Alex. Even my favorite ninja deserves a break. (And yes, you did sign up on the original (now vanished) list.)

Ava, yep, even during this hop it seems folks can't help pointing out there flaws before the strength...interesting! Emotion is what keeps me riveted since I'm so character-driven.
What a wonderful idea. And how right you are, we are (most of us) sooooo much better at beating ourselves up than patting ourselves on the back. Perhaps we need to keep one hand free. Flagellate with one hand (if we must) and pat with the other.
My talent? Listening I think. And appreciating.

Hey you picked the same as me! Cool, we share a talent.

"Great job on dialogue, Tara," said Kelly. Okay, I may need to work on dialogue. But I think my voice is pretty good in my latest mg!

It's good to have skill at dialogue. It's something I had to work on.

Great dialogue is a must, also for the dialogue to match the character and situation.

My post went up yesterday but life has been crazy and I didn't get to visit here until this morning :) I love great dialogue!
The reason I didn't post my link is that every time I post a link to my blog on someone else's blog, whether it's on blogger or wordpress, it ends up linking to my gmail account, which means anyone can access it. Then I always end up frantically e-mailing the bloggers to remove the link; fortunately, they're nice enough to do that.
Anyway, I like your bloghop idea, though! I think one thing I'm good at is teaching; I've learned a lot from my students, and it made me a better teacher (though I still have a lot to learn).

In my translation work I like translating dialogues because they're usually shorter than other paragraphs LOL

I was a little late to the party, but I've seen these posts everywhere. It looks like your blog hop was successful!

I tried to sign up for this blog hop, but it wouldn't let me. I'll check back soon and try again. Great idea on the blog hop. Dialogue is one of my strengths, too, but I sure don't get it right every time. I find some funky stuff sometimes during a day of revising. :-)
